Three Cheers for Everest!!! -Chicket's 1st Litter-

Chicket Farm Rabbitry's first litter arrived on Wednesday, April 26th! Their Mama, Everest, took no interest in the nest box when we gave it to her and she wasn't showing the typical signs of pregnancy (except for being fat) , so we began to worry that she wasn't truly pregnant. We shouldn't have worried! On her due date we discovered a huge, moving, mass of hair and upon inspection it was discovered that she had kindled 13 kits! Rabbits only have 8 teats so with a litter that size, and without another doe to act as surrogate, we expected that not all of the kits would survive. We gave Everest some oatmeal as a supplement to help with milk production and hoped for the best. Once again, Everest surprised us! Her kits are now over two weeks old and all of them are still alive and thriving! Three cheers for Everest!!!
